SharePad is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal information:

• Text Content: The text you type in shared pads is temporarily stored in server memory while a session is active. This data is automatically deleted when all participants disconnect and after 2 minutes of inactivity.
• File Uploads: Files and images you upload (up to 5MB total per pad) are temporarily stored in server memory as base64-encoded data. Files are automatically deleted along with text content when sessions end or become inactive.
• Session Data: We track active session codes and participant counts for operational purposes. This data is not permanently stored.
• Connection Information: Basic connection metadata (IP addresses, timestamps) may be logged for security and debugging purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to:

• Provide real-time text synchronization between participants
• Maintain active sessions and manage connections
• Ensure service security and prevent abuse
• Generate anonymous usage statistics for service improvement

3. Data Storage and Retention

All content (text and files) is stored temporarily in server memory only. Data is automatically deleted:

• When all participants disconnect from a session
• After 2 minutes of inactivity in an empty session
• After 24 hours of inactivity (even with active participants)

We do not store, archive, or permanently save any content. All data is ephemeral and exists only during active sessions. Files are stored as base64-encoded data in memory and are subject to the same deletion policies as text content.

4. Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or distribute your content (text or files) to third parties. Content is only shared with participants who have the same session code. All participants in a session can view and download any files uploaded to that session.

5. Security

While we implement security measures to protect your data:

• All communications are transmitted over WebSocket connections (use HTTPS/WSS in production for encrypted connections)
• Session codes are randomly generated to prevent unauthorized access
• Data is stored only in memory and never written to disk
• File uploads are validated for type and size to prevent malicious content
• Input sanitization and rate limiting help prevent abuse

Important: SharePad is designed for temporary, non-sensitive content sharing. Do not use this service for sensitive, confidential, or private information. While we implement security measures, the service is not end-to-end encrypted and content is accessible to anyone with the session code.

6. Cookies and Tracking

We do not use cookies or tracking technologies. The service operates without persistent client-side storage.

7. Third-Party Services

8. Children's Privacy

SharePad is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
